🚀 Aikeedo v5.2 is now available!

A job queue holds tasks that should run in the background, outside the user’s web request, and worker processes pick them up and run them one by one or in parallel.

Some work takes too long for a web request: generating a video, indexing a large document, sending thousands of emails. The app adds a job to a queue and returns immediately; a worker does the work and records the result.

Queues are backed by systems such as Redis, Amazon SQS, Azure Queue Storage, Cloudflare Queues or a database table. Workers run continuously, usually kept alive by a process manager.

Queues also make an app more resilient: failed jobs can be retried, and spikes are smoothed instead of overloading the server.

Aikeedo runs long tasks through a job queue, with a choice of backends including Redis, Amazon SQS, Azure and Cloudflare, processed by queue workers.
