Stripe Tax Engine

Stripe Tax Engine delegates tax calculation to the Stripe Tax API, using the customer's billing address to determine the applicable rate automatically. It works across all payment gateways—not just Stripe payments—so you can use it regardless of which gateway your customers pay through. The only requirement is a verified Stripe account with Stripe Tax enabled, which is used solely for the tax calculation.

• Stripe Tax API integration: tax rates are calculated live through Stripe Tax using the customer's billing address
• Named tax breakdown: Stripe's detailed tax line items are mapped and displayed per billing record
• Product tax code support: optionally configure a Stripe product tax code to control how your product is classified for tax purposes
• Status check: the admin panel checks Stripe Tax account status—active, pending, or unavailable—so you know if the integration is ready
• Graceful fallback: if Stripe is unavailable or the customer's address is incomplete, no tax is applied rather than blocking checkout
• Gateway-agnostic: calculates tax independently of which payment gateway is active—works with Stripe, PayPal, Paystack, or any other configured gateway
• Stripe account required: a verified Stripe account with Stripe Tax enabled is needed for tax calculation, even if Stripe is not your payment processor
