Aikeedo v5.1 replaces private chats with an app-wide private mode. Turn it on once and everything you create — chats, images, video, voice — stays temporary until you turn it off. Here is how it works and how to set it up.
Most AI products offer some kind of private chat. You start one on purpose, it lives in its own window, and when you leave it, it is gone. Then you want to generate an image privately, or transcribe a recording, and there is nothing — private mode stops at the chat.
Aikeedo 4.1 had that kind of temporary chat. In v5.1 we replaced it with something we think is simpler and, as far as we know, unusual: a private mode that covers the whole app and stays on until you turn it off.
Turn it on, use anything, go anywhere, come back — you are still private. Turn it off, and you are back to normal.
A ghost button beside New in the sidebar (and in the header on mobile) turns private mode on. Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + X does the same from the keyboard. When it is on, the app pages dim so nobody forgets which mode they are in, and if the sidebar is collapsed, a Private badge appears in the head bar so there is still a way to see it and switch it off.
The state is remembered by the browser, not by a page. Move between Chat, Imagine, Video, Voiceover and the rest, open settings, reload, open another tab — private mode stays on. There is nothing to turn on again before each use, which is the point: a privacy feature that depends on remembering to start it will be forgotten at the worst moment.
Turning it off returns you to normal mode, in the same browser. Your regular history and library were never touched.
While it is on, everything a user creates is private to that session: chats, images, videos, voice-overs, transcripts, classifications, isolated voices, and whatever chat tools produce along the way. Private items:
Each tool says so under its heading while the mode is on: what you create here stays out of your history and library, and is deleted after the retention period.
In private mode, lists show only the current session's items. A user's regular conversations and library are out of view until they turn private mode off, so a private session starts clean and cannot leak into anything else on screen.
The private session begins with the first thing the user creates, not when the switch is flipped. Turn the mode on and straight off, and nothing was written and nothing needs confirming.
If a session holds anything when the user turns the mode off, a prompt says how many items they will no longer be able to open and reminds them to save anything they want to keep first. Private items offer Save where regular ones offer Share.
If a generation is still running, the prompt says so: it will finish and count toward usage, but end up out of reach.
We would rather be plain about this than oversell it.
Private mode is a feature you control. Under Settings → Features → Privacy & safety, next to the safety checker:
Expired items are removed through the regular delete, so their files and embeddings go with them. Generations that got stuck are failed and their credit is released, and items still generating are left for their provider's webhook to finish.
If you are updating from an earlier release, re-enable private mode after the update. It replaces the chat-only temporary chat setting, which no longer exists.
Our private chats in 4.1 were a good feature that stopped at a boundary: the chat. But people do not think in tools. They think "I do not want this on the record", whether it is a sensitive question, a draft, a client's image or a recording of a meeting.
A mode that applies everywhere, and sticks, matches that. It also means that when your users compare Aikeedo to the AI products they already use, this is one place where yours does more.
Update to v5.1, enable private mode under Settings → Features → Privacy & safety, choose your retention period, and check your plans. Your users will find the switch beside New.
The documentation has the full details, and the v5.1 release post covers everything else that is new.
