Aikeedo v5.1 Is Live: MCP Connectors, Private Mode, Keyboard Shortcuts and New Models

Published Oct 5, 2026 ⦁ 8 min read

Aikeedo v5.1 is here - with MCP connectors that let chat use tools from other services, a 450+ connector catalogue plugin, a private mode that covers the whole app, keyboard shortcuts, and a model refresh.

v5 made Aikeedo feel like the AI products your users already love. v5.1 takes on the two things those products do that chat alone cannot: working with the services people already use, and keeping a conversation off the record.

Chat can now use tools from other services through MCP connectors, with your users signing in to their own accounts and approving what the AI is allowed to do. A new private mode makes anything created in a browser temporary, across every tool, until the user turns it off. Add keyboard shortcuts, a fresh batch of models and a round of hardening, and this is a release worth updating for.

Aikeedo v5.1 is live.

Here is everything that is new.

MCP Connectors: Let Chat Work With Your Users' Other Services

Ask an assistant to check a Linear issue, search a Notion workspace or look up a Sentry error, and without a connection it can only apologize. Connectors fix that.

Connectors are built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard that Claude and ChatGPT use for the same job. Any remote MCP server works. A user connects a service, the AI can call its tools in the middle of a conversation, and the result comes back into the thread.

  • Every user signs in with their own account. The AI acts with that user's access, never someone else's. Sign-in uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and automatic client registration, with request headers and no-sign-in servers supported too.
  • Every tool has a permission. Always allow, needs approval, or never allow β€” set per tool or for a whole group at once. Everything starts at needs approval, including tools the server calls read-only, because a server's own description of its tools is something we cannot verify.
  • Approval happens in the conversation. When the AI wants to use a tool that needs approval, the chat pauses and shows a card with the tool's name and exactly what it will send. The user picks Allow once, Always allow, or Deny.
  • You decide who gets what. Switch Connectors on under Settings β†’ Features β†’ Chat, then choose per plan which catalogue connectors are included and how many custom servers a workspace may add.
  • No extra credits. Tool calls run against the user's own account with the service and are not charged. The model's tokens are billed as usual.

Workspace members can also add a custom connector themselves by pasting a server address. A three-step flow checks the server live and reports what it finds before anything is saved.

Connector Catalogue: 450+ Ready-Made Servers

Finding and pasting server addresses one at a time does not scale, so we built the catalogue.

Connector Catalogue is a new first-party plugin for Aikeedo 5.1 and later. It ships 450+ MCP servers from official vendors β€” Notion, Linear, Stripe, Sentry, Asana and many more β€” in 14 categories, with 66 hand-verified entries marked with a tick.

  • Import in a few clicks under Settings β†’ Starter content β†’ Connectors, with logos, search and a category filter.
  • Mostly automatic setup. 329 sign in with OAuth, 133 need no sign-in, and 25 ask only when a tool is called. Servers that need you to register your own OAuth client are imported switched off, with a note saying so.
  • They are ordinary connectors. Edit them, switch them off or delete them. Re-importing skips what you already have.
  • Your members get a Discover tab with connectors grouped by category, next to a Yours tab for what they have connected.

The plugin is available in the marketplace.

Private Mode: Turn It On and Everything Is Off the Record

Aikeedo 4.1 added temporary chats. They worked, but only in chat, and you had to start each one on purpose. v5.1 replaces them with something simpler and much broader.

Private mode covers the whole app. Switch it on from the ghost button beside New in the sidebar and everything the user creates is temporary: chats, images, videos, voice-overs, transcripts, classifications, isolated voices, and whatever chat tools produce. None of it appears in history, Recents or the library.

And it stays on. Move between tools, open settings, reload the page, open another tab in the same browser β€” you are still private. Turn it off, and you are back to normal. There is no ritual to repeat before each use.

  • Nothing is left behind by accident. The private session starts with the first thing the user creates, so switching the mode on and straight off leaves no trace and asks no questions.
  • Turning off is deliberate. If the session holds anything, a prompt says so and reminds the user to save what they want first. If generations are still running, it warns that they will finish and count toward usage, but end up out of reach.
  • Save replaces Share. Private items can be saved to keep, not shared.
  • A quick toggle. Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + X.
  • Clear on the page. Tools show a note that private mode is on, and the canvas dims so no one forgets.

For operators, it is one setting under Settings β†’ Features β†’ Privacy & safety: turn it on, choose how many days private items are kept before they are deleted (the default is one day), and decide per plan who gets it. Private mode replaces the old private chat setting, so re-enable it after updating.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Heavy users live on the keyboard, and the AI products they know already work that way. v5.1 adds shortcuts across the app β€” and shows them where they apply, so no one has to hunt for a list.

  • General β€” New (Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + O), Create on this page (N), Search (Ctrl/⌘ + K), Private mode (Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + X)
  • Navigation β€” Toggle the sidebar (Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + S), toggle the details panel (Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + D), open settings (Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + ,)
  • Item menu β€” With a row's menu open: mark read or unread (U), share (S), rename (R), delete (D), open in a new tab (O)

Ctrl/⌘ + / opens a cheat sheet, and every shortcut can be switched off in a user's settings.

Model Refresh

v5.1 keeps the catalog current:

  • Anthropic β€” Claude Opus 5.5 and Claude Sonnet 5.5
  • OpenAI β€” GPT 6.1 Sol and GPT 6 Luna
  • xAI β€” Grok 4.7 and Grok Imagine Video 1.5 Lite

Models that are deprecated or on a shutdown schedule are retired: Claude Sonnet 4.5, GPT 5.1, GPT 5.4 nano, and Cohere's Command R and Command R+.

Under the Hood

  • Encryption at rest β€” connector credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The key lives in APP_ENCRYPTION_KEY in your .env file, and updates write one automatically if you do not have it
  • A guard on user-supplied URLs β€” connector addresses, web pages read during chat and dataset URLs can no longer reach localhost, private networks or cloud metadata endpoints, and every redirect is checked
  • A budget for tools β€” each connector and each request is limited in how many tools it can offer, so a large server cannot swamp a conversation
  • Background refresh β€” cron keeps each connection's tool list and sign-ins fresh

How to Upgrade

Back up your files and database first, then update as usual from the admin panel. Database migrations run automatically, and the update writes an APP_ENCRYPTION_KEY to your .env file if there is none. If the file is not writable, run php bin/console app:generate-key and back the key up together with your database β€” losing it means every user has to reconnect every connector.

After updating:

  • Re-enable private mode under Settings β†’ Features β†’ Privacy & safety and check your plans. It replaces the old private chat setting.
  • Turn on Connectors under Settings β†’ Features β†’ Chat, then choose what each plan includes.

One thing to know: because of the new URL guard, an MCP server running on the same machine or network as Aikeedo cannot be used as a connector. The Connectors documentation covers this and everything else above.
